O projektu

The project „DOKKICA“- Children Creative House in Osijek, in accordance with Proposal of national strategies to prevent disturbances in the behaviour of children and youth between 2008 and 2012, should be a prevention program (a pilot project) working with children and youth and including different activities (assistance in studying, organisation of free time, psycho- emotional help, help children with various difficulties, creative workshops, assistance in family education…).
Starting this project was of main importance; according to available statistical data children do not attend school regularly, there is more and more violence between them, consummation of drugs and alcohol are increasing all the earlier ages of younger adolescents and due to the European working time many of them walk around aimlessly with a key around their neck because they do not know where to spend their free time. Because of the reasons given above, Organisation Breza has founded the so-called “DOKKICA” in order to implement prevention of free time for children and young people.

The aim of the project is to ensure the minimum requirements necessary for quality, successful, healthy growth and development of new generation, prevention of unacceptable behaviour of young people and quality of spending their free time.
Only the children of primary school age (between six and fourteen years old) are going to attend the project. Organisation Breza is expecting about three hundred children per month, hence approximately 3,600 users per year. Even though their parents and educators will be included in the project as indirect users, they would be considered as volunteers in some workshops, in which the emphasis is on inclusion. The users will be recommended by school services, Centre for Social Care or by their parents and educators. It is important that all programmes are free.

Projects will be held in the former building of the Centre for Social Care in Osijek ( Jaeger Street) every day from 9 am to 9 pm. The following activities are planned:
-teaching school subjects
-organisation of free time (cooking, painting, working on the computer,..)
-psycho-emotional help by playing different games
-organisation of children's creative potential “ A project per month”
-engaging students of psychology, pedagogy and Teacher Faculty in Osijek in projects and their organisation
-organisation of creative workshops in thematic areas ( music, dance, theatre,..)
-regular evaluation of the project and supervision work with staff on the project

The people working on this project include the coordinator of the house, teacher, workshops-organiser, head of advisory services and volunteers - all professional and knowledgeable people.
The project will be carried out in cooperation with the  Centre for Social Care, The Town of Osijek( financial support),Volunteer Centre Osijek, Children House Borovje in Zagreb( supervision of organisation and realisation of the project), The Primary School Retfala in Osijek (  referral of students with difficulties in learning ), Music Workshop for youth “Polifonija”, dance studio “ Shine”, Centre of Informal Education of Young People and with many other institutions that work with young people and that promote   volunteerism.
The value of the project is estimated at HRK 890.400, 00.
